Kettlebell Fat Boy Failure at VO2MAX Test

I went for a VO2 MAX test as planned last night with the 24kg kettlebell.

I failed to even finish it!

I had a nice warm up of around 150 snatches in sets of 20 & 30 and was feeling good.

I then set up my countdown clock for 6 mins 20 secs (this allowed 20 secs to get set) and went for it.

The first minute was left hand for 16 reps then 18 on the right and back for 20 on the left which is when the voice inside my head said 'STOP you fat git!'

I managed a measly 3 mins of reps. Which left 3 to go. I wasn't totally knackered out and probably could have made it through the whole test but the demon in my head said no!

I did however feel pretty good after the 3min bout and will return later in the week and complete the test even if it kills me!

It's made me realise that the fitness side of my training is missing and also that VO2 MAX Training isn't that easy (my memories of burning up on the concept2 now don't seem so distant). Also, trying to keep a set cadence with the snatches really tunes you in to yourself, another reminder of stroke length on the concept2 rower!
