Two Hands Anyhow

Two Hands Anyhow

The 'Two Hands Anyhow' is an Old School exercise/lift almost extinct now but a favourite of the likes of Eugene Sandow and Arthur Saxon.

The lift involves doing a bent press and picking up another weight from the floor at the same time. The bent press in itself is an odd exercise as it isn't really a 'press' as such but an exercise in leverage. This however doesn't make it any easier as it's still a really tough manouver to perform and requires immense trunk/core power on top of aglity and shoulder strength with balance thrown in just for good measure.

The Two Hands Anyhow exerts a lot of force on your trunk at the sides (how technical) so should be performed with great care. Make sure you can perform a bent press before attempting the 2 hands anyhow.

As a little tip ... I find using slightly heavier weights in the bent press easier as I can work away from the weight instead of just pressing it out because it's too light. Try grinding away, around and down trying to leave the weight/ kettlebell where it is before attempting a windmill type exercise to return erect. Also, keep the reps low until you find out how your body reacts as it seriously works your lower back and trunk like you've never experienced.

Here's a video of me performing a 108kg Two Hands Anyhow lift (60kg overhead and 48kg from the floor) The press is a hybrid of a bent press and side press.
