Just a quickie looking back at last summers Ashbourne Highland Games in Derby UK.
Got a chance to meet the Legendary Geoff Capes
Geoff has so many Throwing Records all of which are absolutely outstanding.
We had a go to try and break the games records set by Geoff, weight over the bar 18 feet 3 inches (unbelievable), 28lb weight for distance 25.98m.
Also, featuring as an extra part of the games was the Atlas Stones ranging from 100-150kg, which was won in 29 seconds by yours truly. This re-ignited my love of Stone Lifting (BTW just got Jed Johnson Diesel Crew Fundamentals of Stone Lifting, so will report soon) and spurred me on to the href="http://vietnamsportnews.blogspot.com/2008/08/dinnie-stones.html"target=_blank">Dinnie Stones and href="http://vietnamsportnews.blogspot.com/2008/08/inver-stone.html"target=_blank">Inver Stones
the Overall event was won by Scott Thompson but a guy that really stood out from the crowd was Carl Fletcher of Wigan, Carl is an ex Wigan rugby league player who has turned to Shot Putt and this was his first attempt at Highland Games. Carl showed so much potential and awesome power, he's one for the future for sure.
